Learning Assistant
Overview
Learning Assistant is an innovative software company who specialise in the delivery of online portfolio building software for the vocational qualifications marketplace. Prior to Learning Assistant, the traditional training environment stifled the growth of training organisations and held back candidates due to a logistical and administrative overload. To overcome these problems Learning Assistant commissioned a bespoke software product that would allow them to take full advantage of this high growth market.
Solution
Network Build provided a full analysis of the offline business processes allowing a strategic plan to be developed for moving the business online. The final solution incorporates an online portfolio system allowing modular training courses to be delivered via a web browser.

The system can store a wide variety of documentation such as courseware, support materials and evaluations. Learners are able to store their portfolio of work online to use as evidence of standards achieved, which can be assessed remotely in real-time as there is no need for the training company to be "on site" with the client. An online contact diary further supports the relationship between learner and trainer while online communities allow learners to share knowledge and tap into a support network of peers. Online productivity tools allow for the management of training resources, meetings, project reports and funding applications - all from an intuitive web based administration.
Results
The launch of the Learning Assistant product has lead to dramatic increase in volumes of business for training organisations using the software. Without exception, Learning Assistant's customers have benefited from significant reductions in cost and an increase in trainer capacity resulting in tangible benefits to their bottom line. The final outcome is an outstanding online learning environment that has led a revolution in the e-learning marketplace within Scotland.
Learning Assistant is a prime example of full service product development that took the company's brand and software idea to a finished product that could be handed back to the company for them to run themselves.
